Yesterday marked the last day of London Fashion Week S/S 2016. As always, the English shows brought their share of amazing weirdness and originality. I have to admit, a few years back, their eccentricity was a full nonsense puzzle to me. Always super wild, sometimes (too) whimsical, not ready-to-wear enough, screaming-for-attention craziness… I didn’t get it. I didn’t understand the appeal.
Blame it on aging (let’s say I simply matured, it sounds nicer), but now, LFW has become one of my favourites. Its off-the-beaten-path aesthetic, that used to leave me perplexed, has become deeply relevant in a fashion offering that feels often homogenous.
One way how they differentiate themselves is by paying close attention to details. Embroideries, beading, assembling techniques and fabrics are all ways they remain fresh season after season. Don’t be fooled though, they don’t intend to do it in a proper conservative haute couture way, but rather in a rebellious and charmingly chaotic state of mind. As a tribute to the English aesthetic and finical artistry, I’ve selected the most gorgeous/surprising/OMG detail shots from the Brit runways. Either you’re a fashion designer looking for inspiration or a creative looking to embark on rainbow ride, there’s no doubt you’ll find your London calling here.
