Weekend Getaway: What Are Your Fave Spots in NYC?

My boyfriend, my Margot Tenenbaum coat and I are heading south this weekend. No, not like warm south. More like New York south.

Blame it on the journalist or the perfectionist in me, but as I was looking for things to do, I got sucked into the infinite black hole of trip planning. I searched everywhere for everything there is to know about the city and I took notes of ALL the places that seemed cool, which there’s obviously a ton of in NYC. Want to know what are the best 30 restaurants of 2015? I know! Wandering if there are any exhibition openings worth a visit this weekend? I know that too. What about super indie jazz club performances? Here is the schedule.

Now, I’m kinda screwed: I have 78 activities on my list and only four days, one stomach and two feet.

Most of my research was done on websites that I fully trust (hello Refinery 29 and Vogue!), but there’s not one fashion editor who can beat a friend’s personal recommendation. Plus, if that suggestion happens to already be on my list, then it undeniably becomes a must-see.

Soooo, that’s when you come in. I need your help to decide what to do – my decision making skills are nonexistent – so let me know if you’ve tried any of the following places or if you have any extra suggestions. Just so you know what vibe we’re going for, here is a sample of my six-foot long list:

Hotel: The Jane

Food, cafés and drinks: Momofuku, Milk Bar, Egg Shop, Bakeri, Happy Bones, Kaffee 1668, Devocion Cafe, The Butcher’s Daughter, Employees Only, Charlie Bird, Galli, Prune, Virginia’s, The Dutch, The Fat Radish, The Four Horsemen.

By the way, we won’t be eating at all of those restaurants and cafes – we only have four days for God’s sake!!! – but they’re all in the “maybe” category.

Art: Fridman Gallery, Cheim & Read Gallery, MET (there’s an exhibition on the über stylish countess Jacqueline De Ribes and one with Alex Katz’s paintings).

Shows: A jazz performance at The Cornelia Cafe or Mezzrow or Smalls Jazz Club (totally ambivalent about this one) and a stand up performance at the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy club. Amy Poehler might be there… Yes, yes, YESSS!

Flea markets: Artists & Fleas, Annex Markets and The Market NYC.

Shopping: Other than the Reformation boutique, I haven’t even thought about that. Crazy, right?! Suggestions, please!

So that’s it! Let me know about your fave NYC spots in the comments or on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The indecisive lady in me will be eternally grateful. Thanks peeps!!!
