#VeryPicky: My Heart’s Beating for Those 5 Things This Week

Wow, it wasn’t easy to pick my fave things this week! Not because there wasn’t anything interesting, but because every brand seems to be releasing their most amazing stuff during fall season. Despite having the dreadful chore to look at beautiful things for hours, I finally came down with a top five. I hope you’ll like my picks as much as I do!

Coat by _Scapes NY

I’ve been giving orange a little too much love lately, so it comes to no surprise that I’m totally obsessed with this coat. Lined with polar fleece — I’m sold just at the sound of that —, it has a little pocket specifically thought out for your metro card (the one at the bottom right). The brand designs and produces every piece in small batch in New York, for ethical and anti-waste reasons.

Light Moisturizer by Savan

I couldn’t agree more with this brand new local skincare company, launched by three long-time friends: whether ingredients are natural or created in a lab, there’s good and bad in both. For Savan, as long as the components are both efficient AND safe, they’ve got their seal of approval! This light moisturizer, soothing and full of antioxydants, literally feels like you just splashed a glass of water right into your face (but way more enjoyable). And since there’s no fragrance, all the sensitive skins out there should be super duper happy.

Pants by Mlle Earth

If pants, shorts and a skirt had a baby, that’s what it would look like! Wishing to do things differently, Alexandra Cyr, the founder of Mlle Earth and travel lover, took a trip to Vietnam where she put together a team of local seamstresses to produce her ethical collections. When I visited her pop-up shop two weeks ago in Montreal, on Laurier Street, let just say that those pants were an instant hit for me and my legs.

Earrings by ORA-C

Fringed pompoms (FIY: they’re all handmade) are one of Caroline Pham’s signature. Caro — I can call her that, she’s a friend of mine — grew up in Montreal and Hong Kong before officially moving to New York for 10 years (where she studied Illustration and Industrial Design at Parsons. Sooo not impressive ;) Today, she works from her Mile Ex atelier and ships out her gorgeous pieces to Assembly (NY and LA), to Japan and a bunch of other cool places.

Sweater by OhSevenDays

Days getting colder = I just want to wear oversized sweaters. This cotton XL knit is one of Megan Mummery’s creations, a Canadian who studied at London College of Fashion and then decided to live and launched her line in none other than Istanbul in 2013. As obsessed with beautiful things as she is with ethically-made products, all of her clothes are produced locally and cut in eco-friendly fabrics.
